-Between February 21 and February 25, 2006 Holt Romania Iasi site received the monitoring visit of UNICEF Romania officials (Pierre Poupard – Representative; Voica Pop – Child Protection Officer; Dana Petcovici – Project Assistant; Marlena Pintilie – Child Rights Monitoring Officer). The visit was on the occasion of ending the project “Developing Services for Child and Family”, developed in Iasi between July 1, 2005 – March 1, 2006, in partnership with the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection Iasi and financed by UNICEF.

The project was aimed at:

• experimenting the model of contracting social services by NGOs;

• evaluating and monitoring foster care placements in rural areas;

• developing appreciative support groups for maternal assistants in rural areas;

• experimenting appreciative community facilitation in 5 villages in the Iasi county: Raducaneni, Scobinti, Dobrovat, Belcesti and Lungani;

• organizing 10 parent groups for the appreciative parent education classes;

• experimenting the evaluation scale for child risk of abandonment.
